Headed out of town for a week – which means no constant alcohol gel on my hands. This allowed me to try a new polish kit I’ve been stashing for an occasion.
I bought this Formula X kit from Sephora (they even have a lovely FAQ section on ther site). Formula X is a great brand, I love many of their Effects lines (i.e. Black Quartz, Sparklers, Superwatts). It consists of a base coat and the colored polish.
The clincher is that the beautiful foil look is masked by any top coat. I typically use Sally Hansen’s Anti-Chip Insta-Dri Topcoat for a beautiful gloss and its long-lasting and quick-dry miracles. I assumed the non-top coat rule also meant the shine of the polish would be degraded over time by alcohol gel (which dulls my top coat after several days).
The base applied smoothly, the colored, mirror-shine coat was initially marbled (even though I rolled the bottle). I bought it on clearance and had it on the shelf for a month, so I’m sure it’s my fault. After the first nail, it evened out and produced a beautiful shine. I’m very happy with this – 9/10!
My sister recently wore the most beautiful Lily P. dress and I was inspired! So here is my floridly floral, vibrant summer manicure!
It’s a little cutesy, but this sweet pink and red hearts mani brings back memories of elementary school complete with Ninja Turtles valentines cards, pink carnations, and heart-shaped erasers.
My husband and I were deciding our Valentine’s Day plans today and we both agreed that hanging out playing games would be preferable to entering the madness of going out on a date on the busiest night of the year. I look forward to doing the things we love best as we have romantic evenings all year long.

So Christmas is over (all except for the arduous task of putting my tree up). It’s time to go back to work, but we still have another holiday to celebrate. New Year’s Eve is a poignant celebration of the year past and the promise of the year to come. Plus champagne! This year, my husband inadvertently invited all of our friends over (even though I work on NYE and New Year’s Day). I’m still pumped to celebrate and was looking for something beyond my typical glitter-infested manicure. When I came across this nail stamping plate, I knew I could convey champagne-infused celebration through my nails!I painted a shimmery gold background and then stamped the “bubbles” in black! I kind of love it for an understated manicure (that doesn’t take a liter of acetone to remove!)Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year!
It is finally getting into true Fall weather. While I lament the warm, sunny days of summer the one consolation is dark jewel tones, boots, scarves and cute coats. I did a few days of the color alone before I decided to delve into a Houndstooth pattern to add a little pizazz! Look for more shades of pumpkin, aubergine and forest green in the days to come!

So I decided to finally try the fishtail accent nail. It is too much effort to do on more than one nail. I used the The Beauty Department tutorial. I painted the fishtail colors on tape and cut strips to use to create a fishtail design. The rest is a nail stamp.
So it’s been a while since I posted (even though I’ve had a lot of time off lately). So here is my newest mani.
